HUNTING AND FISHING
In the vicinity of Sjenica there is the hunting area Caričin grad (Queen’s town) which covers an area of 10.050 square kilometers. There can be found tamed game such as: hare, roe deer, wild boar, and sometimes a chamois. In the canyon of the river Dubočica, poultry, wild duck, partridge and quail could be hunted, as well as predators among which wolfs and foxes are the most common. Occasionally, a bear appears in hunting areas. Shooting of the game is done by plan. There are four conditional places for waiting the game regularly fertilizing. The hunting area is held by the Hunting Association “Vrhovi” founded in 1926. It owns the Hunting Tenement in the city center of Sjenica.
The hunting area of Golija extends 25 kilometers north to Sjenica. It has an area of 32.507 hectares, at an altitude of 600-1833 meters and belongs to the group of high mountains’ hunting areas. Big and small game can be found in Golija hunting area, and some of the most important are: wild boar, roe deer, bear, wood-grouse, hare, wolf, fox and marten.

Rivers and lakes of the Pešter plateau abound in fish attracting fishermen on their shores, especially in the summer months. The rivers of Pešter are main dwelling place of brook trout, browse, pike, chub, gudgeon and barbel. A special attraction of these waters is browse, often found in Capital samples, but it is under protection and prohibited for fishing. The Sjenica Lake has been planted with fish for the last few years with great quantities of young fish stream trout, carp, browse and lake trout. Fishing on the plateau of Pešter is a combination of passion and enjoyment.
